Intercomparison of High‐Resolution SST Climatologies Over the Australian Region

چکیده
Sea surface temperature (SST) climatology data sets provide the reference for observations of ocean anomalous events, which may have significant effects on local marine ecosystem. The representativeness SST climatologies historical and current states is essential to identify predict events. Here, we compare five high-resolution around Australian coast investigate uncertainty introduced by SSTs estimates anomalies. studied are (a) 0.05° global daily calculated this study from ESA Climate Change Initiative (CCI) Analysis v2.0 product (1981–2016); (b) 0.25° 1981–2016 derived NCEI AVHRR_OI SST; (c) 0.02° Atlas Regional Seas (SSTAARS), a pixel-wise 1992–2016; (d) NOAA Coral Reef Watch (CRW) monthly 1985–2012; (e) 0.1° 1994–2016 BRAN_2016 reanalysis. formed CCI analysis used as (b)–(e) based same time period central year. This indicates that would be suitable use over region. However, smaller spatial scales or where night-only required, 2-km SSTAARS also suitable. feature resolution significantly coarser than climatology.

متن کاملIntercomparison of coral oxygen isotope data and historical SST: Potential for coral-based SST eld reconstructions
We examine the extent to which the large-scale features of the sea surface temperature (SST) anomaly eld are resolved by a sparse observational network of coral oxygen isotope ( 18O) time series. Regression of annually-averaged 18O data against gridded estimates of local SST anomaly within the period 1856{1990 con rm the literature regression of 18Oanomaly on SST anomaly for Indo-Paci c corals....
متن کاملIntraseasonal SST Variability and Air–Sea Interaction over the Kuroshio Extension Region during Boreal Summer*
The structure and evolution characteristics of intraseasonal (20–100 day) variations of sea surface temperature (SST) and associated atmospheric and oceanic circulations over the Kuroshio Extension (KE) region during boreal summer are investigated, using satellite-based daily SST, observed precipitation data, and reanalysis data. The intraseasonal SST warming in the KE region is associated with...
